In 2023, I graduated from college with a BS in cognitive science and a BA in studio art. I could’ve gone with one, but somehow, I couldn’t let go either way of thinking about the world - one is analytical and the other is holistic. Analytical thinking helps me break things down to bricks and recombine them into new possibilities, while holistic thinking brings me to visions before they can be articulated by language. When I do things analytically, I like doing little experiments and breaking rules. When I feel a holistic understanding of a vision, I would start creating the product from the end. I think the drive for my creative approach is a bunch of “what if…s.” And where do they come from? Maybe the Earth…?

My first technical medium is coding. I began learning to code systematically in college and became fluent during my graduate studies at ITP. For me, coding feels like thinking out loud. It can play the role as a language when I focus on developing a project. However, not all interactions occur through digital interfaces. A lot of interactions in daily life comes through physical experience. I then started to wander into electronics and fabrication as well in recent years. Now, I’m interested in networking so that I can integrate my software and hardware skills into a cohesive system.

Occasionally, I would do a piece or two of possibly artwork, mostly sculptures. They help me reflect on my understanding of the world and get through convoluted thoughts. I have considered pursuing a career in that field before, but I decided it’s better to keep it as a side quest. That way, it’s beneficial to work at my own pace and make things that truly matter to myself.
